Lauderbabe Happy Hour Guide

“It’s always happy hour somewhere,” and the heat is quickly approaching. Nothing says Summer vibes better than grabbing a bite and a refreshing beverage after a long day. I’m taking you from Las Olas to random strip malls in Wilton Manors, Fort Lauderdale Beach to Flagler Village. You’ll find local eateries and watering holes old and new — Some you may have heard of and others not so much.

From outdoor spaces, wine bars, beer joints, to the perfect date night spot, there is something for everyone. Here’s a list of favorite happy hours in Fort Lauderdale worth noting about — from a local.

A seafood lovers heaven, 3030 Ocean.

3030 Ocean — 3030 Ocean offers an ever-changing menu of organic produce and locally-sourced dishes from both land and sea. Executive Chef Adrienne Grenier packs a punch when it comes to delicious farm to table food and is consistently my favorite chef at local “foodie” events. An excellent spot to go with your seafood-lover BFF.
When: Happy hour 5 PM to 7 PM daily.
Where: 3030 Holiday Drive, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33316

4:30 Boardroom Bar — Be prepared to make friends at this local gem. 4:30 Boardroom Bar is equipped with a relaxed indoor/outdoor bar with the friendliest bartenders and staff in the city. The decor features an eclectic taste of surf and skateboards, vintage cars, and Star Wars memorabilia with TV’s up in case you want to catch a game (go sports!). Happy hour includes $1 off everything and $2 off all shots. This spot is perfect for taking in a sunny Florida day with a cold one listening to rockabilly, surf, or reggae music.
When: Happy hour Monday through Friday all day until 8 PM.

Sidenote: 4:30 Boardroom Bar does not serve food. However, Bohemian Latin Grill, Smoke BBQ, Shooters, Greek Islands Taverna, and more are all within walking distance.

A speakeasy-style bar inside a restaurant — Apothecary 330

The Apothecary 330 — Apothecary 330 is an intimate, speakeasy-style cocktail bar with an impressive spirits collection and home to innovative cocktails. Apothecary is the perfect spot before you head to a movie at the IMAX or catch a show at The Broward Center for Performing Arts. Sample charcuterie, choose from delicious artisan pizzas and get your pasta on from neighboring Pizza Craft. Can’t find it? Head straight to the neon sign that says “COCKTAILS.” $5 wine by the glass and $2 off beer.

Plenty of outdoor + indoor seating for you and your crew at BAR RITA.

Beg For More — With a cheeky name like Beg For More, naturally, this restaurant is one of my go-to sushi spots. Located off of Oakland Park Blvd. just before the Intracoastal bridge, Beg For More serves up some of my favorite crab rangoons in town! I love ordering it with their spicy edamame, and signature roll, ‘Tastes Like My Ex-Girlfriend,’ which is a perfect pairing of tuna, hamachi, flake, asparagus, topped with Thai and Japanese chili. Happy hour includes $4 small plates, $2 sushi, 3 for two rolls, $4 house wine and sake, and $3 beer.
When: Happy hour 4 PM to 7 PM Monday through Thursday.
Where: 2831 E. Oakland Park Blvd, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33306

Intimately-lit Big City Tavern.

B Square Burgers & Booze — Sometimes I get a-hankerin’ for a delicious burger. You know, that perfect combination of patty, bun and perfectly crispy french fries on the side? So, to B Squared Burgers & Booze I go! Casual outdoor seating makes it perfect for taking in a breezy Las Olas afternoon with your four-legged friend. Although I am a purist at heart and usually go for a simple burger with the usual fixings (like the ‘Selfie’ burger), B Squared offers other tasty options such as the ‘Dad Bod’ (melted Maytag blue cheese, truffle mushroom, purple caramelized onions, and a sunny-side-up fried egg) and for the veggie babes out there, the ‘I Don’t Eat Meat’ (veggie burger, black bean, brown rice, roasted peppers, sprouts, quinoa, melted provolone, and chipotle mayo.) Show your local ID and receive a free glass of B2 wine (Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris or Viognier) or house draft beer with any menu item $14.95 or over. B Square also offers a “Locals Only” card which includes 10% off your entire bill (May through October) so “B” sure to grab one when you’re there!

Coastal vibes at Boatyard just off 17th Street.

Big City Tavern — Big City Tavern is one of the tried and true eateries on Las Olas Boulevard. I have never had a bad meal here! Big City’s menu features fresh seafood, steaks, pasta, salads; you name it, they’ve got it. Chef Steven Zobel and his team hand select fresh, top sourced ingredients to craft daily specials as well as the dishes that never disappoint. Each day desserts, pasta, bread, and gelato are all house-made. Oh, and did someone say Prosecco Pop? Try one of their many specialty cocktails, like this sweet treat. $2.00 off all alcoholic beverages and 50% off selected appetizers. Show your local ID and receive 10% off!

Boatyard’s eclectic, seafood-centric menu blends the freshest daily catches with a quality raw bar, shellfish selections and premium cuts of meat, all thoughtfully prepared with locally sourced ingredients for patrons to enjoy inside, outside or dockside. Boatyard is excellent for taking friends from out of town to because it is “quintessential Fort Lauderdale” and who knows, maybe you’ll catch sight of a Below Deck cast member. Service can be a bit hoity-toity, but we are in South Florida, after all. Half-priced cocktails, beer, and select wine. Enjoy $5 bites and $2.50 tuna tacos! Hidden gem in Wilton Manors, Candela Restaurant Wine Bar + Tapas.

Candela — Tucked in a strip mall, this cozy, warmly lit eatery has Spanish, Italian and Cuban eats, plus many, many wines. One of the things I enjoy about Candela is that they encourage their guests to share and sample the menu and be the creator of your tasting menu. The atmosphere is unpretentious and serves authentically great food. Candela’s happy hour menu boasts mussels and clams, calamari, and several other seafood-inspired dishes. On Fridays, they have a live musician playing the loveliest Spanish guitar making for the perfect date night.

Happy hour is at the bar only and be sure to get there early if you actually want to snag a seat.

Charming wine + tapas bar steps off Las Olas Boulevard.

Temple Street Eatery — Temple Street Eatery is a lofty, urban counter-serve locale with dumplings and other Asian fusion bites, plus beer, wine + sake. TSE is easily one of my favorite Asian-American comfort food restaurants in the area. An ode to the famous eating street in Hong Kong, Temple Street Eatery boasts global street fares that inspire guests to enlighten their palate. They bring comfort food that each guest can relate to, but also introduce new flavors that are reminiscent of their upbringing. Don’t sleep on the edamame falafel or mini beef arepas!

“Live Wilder” at The Wilder.

The Wilder — This venue offers a cool, relaxing, intoxicating space where you can escape with friends and get lost in a moment. It is comprised of several different spaces with a distinct personality – A cocktail bar, turning out masterfully executed libations, a terrace, for sun-drenched revelry, and a great room, hosting near-nightly parties. The atmosphere at The Wilder is playful but elevated, intoxicating, but familiar, tropical, enticing, and feels more like a secluded, storybook escape than a bar or lounge.
